Community of practice for a framework of older adults’ empowerment in environmental activism

The pursuit of a sustainable future requires a comprehensive approach that equips individuals with the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to make environmentally responsible choices.

This competence framework of the Adults For Future project, inspired by the European Competence Framework, aims to guide older people through the essential aspects of sustainable living. The framework is divided into eight modules, each focussing on a critical area of sustainability: Climate Change and Environmental Literacy, Sustainable Living and Individual Footprint, Green Investment, Communication and Green Advocacy, Collaborative Skills for Local Green Initiatives, Resilience and Adaptation to Change, Online Green Engagement and Intergenerational Collaboration.

The Competence Framework provides a structured approach to developing the skills and knowledge needed for a sustainable future. By focusing on these eight modules, individuals can become more effective and responsible stewards of the environment and contribute to a healthier planet and more sustainable communities. Through education and practical application, this framework aims to empower individuals to make meaningful changes in their lives and in the world around them.
